Sunday 2 October

The last two weeks have been quite hectic.

Since April we’ve been trying to sell our house as we wish to downsize. Whilst we were at home we received and accepted an offer and we’re now mulling plans over for the future.   Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be spending quite a bit of time back at home packing up our belongings.

Anyway we returned to Chester last Saturday and spent two nights on the boat and then on Monday we packed our bags again and this time headed in convoy to Centre Parcs in Sherwood Forest with Laura, Marc and the children for a non-stop action-packed four days of fun and of exercise, leaving Max in the care of Marc’s family.

On Monday morning, as we joined the M1 just north of Sheffield we think we probably passed over the canal just as our friends Pip and Mick on NB Lilyanne were working their way through Tinsley Locks below us.   Had we been on our own we would have stopped to lend a hand.  We’re going to see them soon so I don’t think they’ll be too upset.   We waved anyway.

Our Centre Parc stay was very pleasant and despite the huge number of cars in the carpark we weren’t overwhelmed by people  and we didn’t have to queue for any of the activities.  This was probably because most of the families staying had children under school age and quite a lot were pram bound babies who were happy sleeping!

This weekend we were due to look after our grandchildren while Marc and Laura enjoyed a grown up week-end in Sheffield/Leeds with friends.  They waved us off from Centre Parcs and we drove back to Beverley where we stayed on Friday night before returning to Chester on Saturday morning.  Storm had one little job to finish on the house which he did on Friday morning.    We surprised my Mum who we’d invited to come round on Friday afternoon.  She wasn’t expecting to find Summer and Joseph there and so she was absolutely delighted to see her great grandchildren.

Today we’ve returned to the boat where it seems so quiet.   I’ve hurt my back lifting the children and so we’re not planning to do much this week.

  1. Hooray for the house! I’m sure I waved at the M1 as we went under it on Monday, maybe I knew you were up there. Boo for your back, no good having a dodgy back. Have to say I’m glad of the key of power locks at the moment as Tinsley and polishing Lillian seem to have taken their toll on mine. Looking forward to seeing you both soon. x
