We decided to stay put today and go for a walk instead. We chose a circular route of about six miles from Bridge 21, via Chirk village, along the main street, and on to the roundabout where it meets the A5 and then back along the tow path through two tunnels and across the Chirk aqueduct.
Without the hum of the boat engine and at walking pace we have an opportunity to spot more wildlife, specifically some of the smaller birds and we managed to recognize a Treecreeper, Grey Wagtails, Long Tailed Tits, a Robin, a Wren and also some Bramblings.
These geese thought they ruled the towpath and hissed at us as we went passed them. This Jacob sheep seemed quite interested in our progress too.
