Thursday 4 December

We decided to stay an extra night at Bollington as there seemed to be a lot of paths to explore.

Our friend John asked us for our whereabouts as he was on his way home from Snowdonia and he joined us at lunch-time and suggested we went out for lunch.

We were directed to The Vale, a pub that brews its own beer and which was advertising that customers could purchase 36 pints for £70 …… as Xmas gifts.

The pub was busy despite being well away from the main road, although it was well placed for people using the many footpaths and cycleways in the area.

We each chose something different from their comprehensive menu and we were more than happy with our selections.

Today is a special day for our son James who drums with the band Novahound. They recently won a Battle of the Bands competition and part of the prize provided them with an opportunity to brew their own beer. The launch of the ale takes place in Selby tonight, after which you will be able to sample the beer for a limited time at one of the following: The Venue/Riverside in Selby; the Star Inn, Driffield; or Chequers in Beverley.     Go on – try a pint of Novahound, buy their CD or follow them on Facebook.
