The canal reopened at 12 noon today and that meant that the 24 boats in front of us were all vying for pole position, and even some behind us. I thought this was a tranquil pastime with quiet and well mannered people all willing to wait their turn in the queue. How wrong you can be.
The CRT have done a brilliant job this week, keeping boaters updated via emails as to how work was progressing, they have always smiled and been willing to provide an update to anyone walking past the site and even as we passed through the lock at the site of the collapse at 7pm this evening with still more boats to come down behind us, the lock-keeper was still cheerful and promising to stay on duty until the last of the waiting boats had passed through.
(You may notice a slight change in appearance to the website. Please be patient with us as we will be working to improve this over the next week).
