A full spring clean of the boat and hobby day during the day and as it had faired up at teatime we went down to Napton village and passed the locks to examine what progress had been made. Limited signs at the actual lock but three CRT working boats have arrived into the pound at the bottom of the locks complete with heavy machinery and a jcb on board and there are now eight hi-viz jacketed men on site. The official word is that the canal will open again on Friday.
We went to The Folly canal shop for provisions and couldn’t resist the lure of the The Folly pub where we got chatting to Dave & Jan who have been living aboard and continually cruising for 26 years. We enjoyed their company so much we didn’t notice the passing of time and two and a half hours later we left the pub for our two mile walk back to the boat in fading light and dinner.
